Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Portland, Oregon, with residence required within the listed ZIP-code territory. This remote-field role is performed from home and in the field using a mobile office or vehicle for in-person appointments. Occasional travel outside the assigned territory may be required.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential and commercial property claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports.
• Evaluate coverage and policy terms while applying regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other parties to move claims toward resolution.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits while providing professional customer service.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing and difficult conversations.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and detail-oriented working style.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; required training, licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, and background checks must be completed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling practices.
• Residential and commercial building construction knowledge.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
