Property Claims Adjuster II (Northern VA - WFH)

Location: Virginia; ideal candidates live in Northern Virginia or the surrounding area. Work from home with day travel to policy locations an average of 3–4 days per week, including onsite property inspections and occasional overnight travel.

Salary: $62,500–$115,500 annually; expected starting range: $62,500–$93,500.

What you will do

• Investigate and resolve moderate to severe property damage claims by phone and through face-to-face inspections.
• Determine policy coverage, apply claims practices, and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Open, close, and adjust reserves while maintaining accurate claim files and required reports.
• Write estimates, assess repair requirements and local market pricing, and manage claims through resolution.
• Identify fraud and subrogation opportunities and support litigation, trial, and subrogation files.
• Provide customer service and communicate with policyholders, claimants, repair professionals, attorneys, agents, and internal partners.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of property claims handling or insurance field-adjusting experience.
• Proficiency with Xactimate and experience writing estimates and handling claims from start to finish.
• Residential construction experience, such as roofing, remodeling, or water mitigation.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and required state licensing where applicable.
• Ability to safely access and inspect rooftops using a ladder, including first- and second-story roofs with pitches up to 8/12.
• Availability for catastrophe duty, irregular or extended hours, outdoor work in all weather, travel, and possible overnight assignments.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Customer service experience involving flexible schedules and extended work hours.
• Leadership ability to support less experienced claims associates.

Hiring process
