FPGA Configuration and Security (Firmware) Validation Engineer (FPGA)

Location: Penang 15, Penang, Malaysia. Shift 1 (Malaysia).

hirify.global's Software and IP Solutions (SIPS) team develops FPGA platforms and embedded software solutions.

What you will do

• Execute component, system, integration, regression, stress, negative, and user acceptance validation for firmware, platforms, and systems.
• Validate FPGA platform functionality, software packages, drivers, and user-space applications across Windows and Linux.
• Test installation, upgrades, compatibility, plug-and-play, reboot, recovery, error handling, suspend/resume, hibernate, and hot-plug scenarios.
• Develop and maintain automated test cases, regression suites, test procedures, documentation, and validation workflows using Python or other scripting languages.
• Reproduce issues, collect logs and debug data, track defects, validate fixes, and support root-cause analysis with firmware, hardware, software, and validation engineers.
• Maintain test platforms, laboratory environments, equipment, reporting tools, and continuous validation infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in software, firmware, embedded systems, platform validation, or test development.
• Fundamental understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, SoCs, and firmware concepts.
• Experience with Python scripting and basic programming knowledge in C or C++.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux, software validation and debugging techniques, Git, and Jira.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with FPGA-based systems, FPGA development tools, platform validation, driver validation, or operating system testing.
• Knowledge of Windows Device Manager, driver installation and signing, hardware enumeration, and multi-release compatibility testing.
• Basic understanding of PCIe, USB, Ethernet, or other hardware interfaces.
• Exposure to Linux driver or kernel-level testing and automated test framework development.
• Understanding of secure boot, authentication, cryptographic fundamentals, and test or debug tools such as logic analyzers and protocol analyzers.
