Head of Data Center Design (AI)

What you will do

• Own the technical design, architecture, and engineering vision for large-scale data center facilities.
• Define and maintain the Basis of Design, including modular POD architecture, cooling, power topology, fire suppression, networking, rack layouts, containerization, and CDU placement.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews and approve engineering drawings across electrical, mechanical, structural, fire protection, and networking disciplines.
• Set and monitor targets for PUE, capacity, availability, redundancy, and reliability.
• Coordinate technical specifications and integration requirements with equipment manufacturers, technology providers, engineering partners, and implementation teams.
• Lead site feasibility assessments and ensure construction execution remains aligned with approved design intent.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data center design or critical infrastructure, industrial, energy, or similarly complex facility design.
• Experience owning or significantly contributing to Basis of Design documentation for large-scale facilities.
• At least 3 years in a design leadership or technical leadership position.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution and cooling strategies, with working knowledge of fire suppression and structural loading.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design reviews, approving engineering drawings, and translating technical requirements into design and execution standards.
• Professional English proficiency is required for technical documentation, meetings, and stakeholder communication; candidates must be based in Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with modular or POD-based deployments and high-density GPU/HPC environments.
• Knowledge of direct liquid cooling, NVIDIA GB200/GB300 or equivalent platforms, and Uptime Institute Tier III/IV certification processes.
• Experience with site feasibility assessments, construction execution, and EU power, environmental, and building regulations.
