Contract Manufacturing Manager (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Based in Penang, Malaysia; international travel required, approximately 20%.

What you will do

• Lead strategy, execution, and performance management for multiple outsourced LED chip and packaging manufacturing partners.
• Establish unified product performance monitoring across contract manufacturing sites using KPIs, scorecards, reviews, and escalation processes.
• Oversee product transfers, site qualifications, equipment readiness, and production ramp-up.
• Drive quality, yield, cost, delivery, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Align internal cross-functional teams, suppliers, planning, and procurement with demand and factory capabilities.
• Communicate manufacturing performance, risks, status, supplier quality, and CAPA outcomes to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication and packaging processes.
• Strong analytical background and understanding of core statistical techniques.
• Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally; the role is based in Penang, Malaysia.

Nice to have

• Off-site factory support and chip-to-component manufacturing experience.
• Component-to-board or SMT experience.
• 5+ years of recent experience as a Product, Process, or Quality Engineer in a semiconductor environment.
• Experience with SQL, JMP, MS Access, manufacturing data analysis, defect clustering, and failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDS, FIB, or Auger.
• Mandarin communication skills and an MS or PhD in Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
