Supplier Quality Engineer, Powertrain (Automotive)

What you will do

• Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, and production teams to maintain powertrain quality standards.
• Conduct process, product, and system audits to qualify and monitor suppliers.
• Establish and validate supplier processes, including tool trials, gauge approvals, first article inspection, and PPAP.
• Review control plans, FMEAs, deviations, inspection reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Investigate supplier-related defects, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead supplier performance reviews, MRB meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality input for engineering change control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar technical field.
• 3–7 years of manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering experience in automotive, aerospace, or an equivalent manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of castings, forgings, gears, welding, assembly, tooling, materials, and related quality requirements.
• Understanding of QMS, supplier and internal audits, APQP, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and MSA.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30–50%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2018 or IATF 16949.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Manager, or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Experience with quality management systems and related software applications.
