Supplier Quality Engineer - Drive (Automotive): Supporting supplier quality planning, process development, audits, PPAPs, and launch readiness for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on APQP, VDA, manufacturing robustness, and vehicle production quality. Focus on leading supplier corrective actions, resolving root causes, improving manufacturability, and driving quality performance from advanced development through mass production.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States. Onsite presence required 4–5 days per week, with regular in-person meetings. Domestic and international travel required approximately 40–70% of the time; a valid driver's license and passport are required.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Support supplier quality planning and execution from advanced development through mass production using APQP and VDA quality management processes.
  • Lead supplier PPAPs, audits, corrective actions, containment, change management, and launch-readiness activities.
  • Drive supplier improvements in cost, quality, manufacturability, testing, gauging, and production processes.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Design, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to define requirements and resolve escalated issues.
  • Plan and evaluate root-cause analyses, validate corrective actions, support NCR resolution, and mitigate warranty claims.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure robust processes support reliable, high-quality vehicle production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, vehicle, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 4–8 years of experience in automotive or applicable Tier I environments.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, inspection, quality management, vehicle development and production, and supply chain management.
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, VDA, AIAG Core Tools, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, IATF, ISO, DIN, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, communication, teamwork, leadership, and supplier-management skills.
  • Ability to execute project management techniques and direct supplier activities at management level.
