Engineer, Product Quality - Suspension, Brakes, and Alignment (Automotive)

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; daily attendance in the office is required. Frequent domestic and international travel of 10–40% is expected, and a passport is required.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Ensure quality and reliability of suspension, braking, and alignment systems across product development and manufacturing.
• Monitor quality metrics, perform manufacturing and supplier audits, and lead failure analysis using 8D, DMAIC, and 5-Why methods.
• Investigate product failures, warranty claims, customer complaints, and non-conformances, then implement corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and internal teams.
• Support production teams, review engineering changes, and assess their quality impact.
• Drive Lean Six Sigma improvement initiatives and maintain quality control plans, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
• Support durability and performance testing, validate new designs, and analyze test data against safety and performance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of product quality, manufacturing, or supplier quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Strong understanding of suspension, brake, and alignment systems.
• Proficiency with FMEA, SPC, 8D, PPAP, APQP, MSA, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Experience with CAD software, data analysis tools, and quality management systems.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Minitab.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Certified Quality Engineer certification.
• IATF 16949 Lead Auditor certification.
