TL;DR
Sr Supplier Quality Engineer, Software Electrical Integration (Automotive): Developing and validating high-voltage electrical components and wiring systems while ensuring supplier manufacturing readiness with an accent on APQP, VDA, audits, and electrical quality. Focus on leading technical task forces, troubleshooting complex high-voltage issues, managing supplier changes, and driving manufacturability improvements across development and series production.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week onsite. Domestic and international travel required approximately 40–70% of the time; a valid driver's license and passport are required. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain validation processes for high-voltage wire harnesses and self-sufficient wiring systems.
  • Oversee supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes using APQP and VDA processes.
  • Perform supplier process and product audits, manage containment, and support NCR resolution.
  • Coordinate technical requirements between suppliers and Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.
  • Lead technical strategies and task forces to resolve complex quality issues.
  • Drive supplier improvements in cost, quality, and manufacturability using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a related field; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience with automotive high-voltage electrical systems and high-voltage wiring or harnesses.
  • Professional knowledge of AIAG/VDA Core Tools, including FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and MSA.
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory and safety requirements, including IATF, VDA, ISO, and DIN.
  • Expert proficiency with TEVON, BeOn, PPA, ISO 26262, ASPICE, and TRL audits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, debug prototypes, perform electrical measurements, define rework, and communicate technical findings clearly.

Nice to have

  • VDA 6.3 Process Auditing Certification.
  • Product Auditor certification for wiring harnesses.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering.
