Associate Director, Operations Strategy (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, United States

Salary: $180K–$220K per year, plus equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead financial operations across the Americas, including payment and deposit investigations, settlement exceptions, banking-partner escalations, recalls, wallet adjustments, and transaction exceptions.
• Partner with commercial teams to configure customer accounts, enable products, manage non-standard pricing, and resolve onboarding issues blocking revenue activation.
• Own enterprise customer readiness, coordinating go-live checklists, operational readiness reviews, support models, payment configuration, billing, pricing, and post-sale handoffs.
• Redesign SOPs, improve straight-through processing, strengthen incident and escalation frameworks, manage partner migrations, and build operational controls.
• Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Financial Partnerships, Commercial, Customer Support, and Solution Engineering on strategic initiatives.
• Lead, coach, and develop an operations team while establishing objectives, performance calibration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in operations, strategy, or program management within technology, fintech, payments, or top-tier strategy consulting.
• 2+ years of people management experience and a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to identify and prioritize opportunities, create clarity in ambiguous environments, and deliver results independently.
• Experience with payment rails, settlement flows, banking-partner relationships, regulatory requirements, scalable SOPs, automation workflows, or operational controls is preferred.
