Staff Software Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: U.S. Remote; candidates must reside in the United States.

Base salary: $200,000–$260,000 per year, based on experience and level.

What you will do

• Develop application features in an agile environment using TDD and flexible pair programming.
• Collaborate with product and design to shape the application within balanced teams.
• Lead technical decisions involving application architecture and data model design.
• Maintain stable, performant application stacks and deliver quality code aligned with business goals.
• Lead technical decision-making and mentor engineers across functions.
• Participate in on-call rotation and improve system reliability and availability.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of production engineering experience with Ruby on Rails or another open-source language such as Python, Golang, or JavaScript.
• Staff-level engineering experience with technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical decisions.
• Understanding of data structures, TDD, software design patterns, and engineering principles.
• Must reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, ECS, S3, and RDS.
• Exposure to healthcare technologies such as FHIR or HL7.
