Field Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; office-based, shift-based role. 10–15% travel required, with on-call rotations and weekend coverage as needed.

Salary: $90,000–$103,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Perform on-site fault triage, diagnosis, and repair of vehicle software and hardware issues.
• Respond to fleet incidents within a 5-minute SLA to maintain vehicle uptime.
• Follow approved fault diagnosis, repair, safety, and compliance procedures.
• Collaborate with field engineers and cross-functional global teams on technical issue resolution.
• Provide repair updates and handovers across geographical locations.
• Support 24/7 operations through on-call rotations and contribute to process improvements.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, software and hardware fault triage, and repair processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly while meeting strict SLAs.
• Clear technical communication and effective collaboration across teams and locations.
• Understanding of safety protocols, incident management, and operational compliance.
• Flexibility to work shifts, participate in on-call rotations, and provide weekend coverage when needed.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, Datadog, Mender, and JIRA.

Nice to have

• Experience in fleet operations, automotive systems, or ADAS technology.
• Knowledge of ADAS technology and on-road testing requirements.
