Quality Engineer, Total Vehicle (Automotive)

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States. Hybrid arrangement requiring 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings, and 5–20% travel, including potential international travel.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze full-vehicle and body-in-white measurement data to evaluate body fit, gap and flush, and dimensional stability.
• Lead root-cause investigations using GD&T, CAD comparisons, plant measurement data, and metrology systems.
• Drive resolution of dimensional concerns across VFF, PVS, and Job 1 build phases.
• Partner with supplier quality, body shop, final assembly, tooling, fixture, and process-control teams to support launch readiness.
• Identify production and final-assembly deviations, implement corrective and preventive actions, and verify their effectiveness.
• Lead issue-resolution meetings, track dimensional-quality KPIs and open-issue timing plans, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in BIW dimensional analysis, body joining, or vehicle launch engineering.
• Expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and root-cause analysis of dimensional variation.
• Experience with weld and adhesive joint designs, body assembly processes, and complete vehicle production.
• Experience with CMM, laser scanning, optical measurement systems, Pi Web, Q-DAS, CM4D, PolyWorks, or 3DCS.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, FMEA, Six Sigma, and Minitab, with strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
