TL;DR

What you will do

  • Own and optimize spacecraft composite production lines for solar products and subsystems.
  • Support the hands-on build of spacecraft composite structures.
  • Introduce manufacturing equipment and processes to the production floor.
  • Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Manage project timelines, technical risks, and production priorities.
  • Lead non-conformance and root cause analysis investigations, create technical documentation, and advise on design, tooling, equipment, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years of hands-on composites manufacturing experience for the Composites Engineer II level, or 5+ years for the Senior Composites Engineer I level.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing, testing, and design techniques.
  • Experience or knowledge in prepreg layup, machining, and structural assembly bonding.
  • For work in the United States, eligibility under U.S. ITAR export regulations is required, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
  • The role involves prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, with occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing, composite testing, repair, assembly, and environmental acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of resin systems, structural bonding adhesives, sandwich structures, production quality metrics, and process qualification.
  • Experience with ERP/PLM systems such as Siemens Teamcenter or Infor LN.
  • Experience with configuration management, DFMEA, PFMEA, fault tree analysis, Pareto analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Experience implementing new products and engineering changes in production environments.
