Staff Systems Engineer, Automations & Integrations (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Chicago, or New York City, United States

Salary: $160,000–$185,000 base salary per year, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Design and build reliable, observable, and reusable automations and integrations across Salesforce, NetSuite, BambooHR, identity, engineering, and ticketing systems.
• Lead complex integration projects from requirements and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
• Operationalize AI-assisted workflows and agents, including knowledge retrieval, intelligent triage, automated approvals, and user workflows through Glean and related tools.
• Define standards for automation design, testing, monitoring, documentation, security, compliance, version control, peer reviews, and CI/CD.
• Implement error handling, alerting, runbooks, routing, and remediation patterns that protect business operations.
• Partner with stakeholders and executives, set technical direction, mentor engineers and analysts, and introduce scalable automation and AI integration patterns.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in automation, integration, or data engineering, delivering complex business-critical systems.
• Expertise with Workato, including recipe design, API integrations, SDKs or custom connectors, error handling, and operational practices.
• Hands-on experience with Glean or a similar AI knowledge platform, including administration, APIs, and AI retrieval or agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, NetSuite, BambooHR, Okta or identity systems, and engineering or ticketing platforms.
• Experience with architecture and automation design, ETL/ELT, data modeling, SQL or T-SQL, and a scripting or programming language such as Python or Ruby.
• Strong stakeholder communication, technical design, governance, observability, lifecycle management, and mentoring skills without direct people-management responsibility.

• Workato Automation Pro certification.
