Cloud Systems Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; US citizenship required and all work must be performed within the United States.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and other factors.

What you will do

• Administer and optimize AWS and Microsoft Azure environments, including virtual machines, networking, storage, high availability, backups, disaster recovery, and governance structures.
• Own Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, licensing, user lifecycle management, endpoint administration, and SSO integrations.
• Design and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS and Azure, including reusable modules, remote state, policy-as-code, drift detection, and remediation.
• Automate operational and identity workflows using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Microsoft Graph API, integrating provisioning and security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply CIS Benchmarks and DISA STIGs, operate cloud security and monitoring tools, support SIEM and incident response, and manage vulnerability remediation.
• Administer Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft 365 Copilot at the tenant or account level, including access, licensing, data controls, governance, and spend limits.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration, cloud operations, or infrastructure engineering.
• 3+ years administering AWS in production, including virtual machines, networking, and IAM, plus hands-on Microsoft Azure administration.
• 2+ years administering Microsoft 365 with real administrative rights across Entra ID, Exchange Online, Conditional Access, licensing, and user lifecycle management.
• Hands-on Terraform experience and operational automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, encryption, network segmentation, Linux, and Windows Server in cloud environments.
• US citizenship is required, and all work must be performed within the United States.

Nice to have

• Microsoft 365 GCC High, AWS Control Tower, Landing Zones, container platforms, or SIEM experience.
• Relevant AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, or Security+ certifications.
• Defense, healthcare, or financial-services experience, including CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, HIPAA, FedRAMP, or SOC 2.
• Active DoD security clearance at Secret level or above, or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
• Managed service provider experience administering multiple client tenants.
