What you will do

  • Integrate spacecraft precision attitude determination and control products in a clean environment.
  • Assemble electrical, mechanical, and opto-mechanical subassemblies for star tracker and reaction wheel product lines.
  • Perform functional and performance testing of reaction wheel and star tracker subassemblies and units.
  • Install bearings, apply lubricants and staking compounds, and shim reaction wheels to achieve required clearances and bearing preloads.
  • Clean components using ultrasonic and manual isopropanol cleaning methods, and occasionally rework fixtures and production components.
  • Complete final inspections and accurately document activities and collected data.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience with precision mechanical integration.
  • Excellent fine motor skills, including the ability to manipulate small components with fine tweezers.
  • Excellent close-range vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift of 8 or more hours, work in tight or elevated areas, and perform repetitive physical movements.
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment precisely and lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts as operational needs require.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-reliability aerospace or spacecraft components, machined aluminum, bearings, and optics.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, torque wrenches, drills, and basic metalworking tools.
  • Experience using an optical microscope with 4–20x magnification.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom, cleanbench, and ESD-sensitive hardware practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, work independently, and maintain strong attention to detail.
