Platform Software Engineer, Senior (Embedded Linux)

What you will do

• Design, implement, integrate, and maintain low-level platform software for Linux-based embedded systems.
• Work with hardware prototypes, embedded processors, chip-level interfaces, FPGA systems, and laboratory equipment during board bring-up and system validation.
• Develop performance-sensitive C software, platform services, device interfaces, and kernel-adjacent components.
• Debug system-level issues spanning application software, operating systems, drivers, hardware interfaces, and platform integration.
• Optimize software for performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability, and create test strategies for functional and regression validation.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, systems, test, and product teams while contributing to design reviews, code reviews, root-cause analysis, and peer mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of relevant embedded or platform software development experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong C programming experience in Linux or Unix-based environments, including development for embedded Linux targets.
• Experience with multithreaded software, performance analysis, low-level hardware interfaces, peripherals, networking, ARM-based platforms, and scripting for automation or testing.
• Familiarity with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, USB, or PCIe and with collaborative source-control workflows.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance and meet U.S. person or export-license requirements under ITAR/EAR; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• Linux kernel internals, driver integration, bootloaders, board support packages, device trees, or embedded Linux bring-up.
• PetaLinux, AMD/Xilinx SoC platforms, FPGA integration, build systems, and cross-compilation toolchains.
• Experience with serial consoles, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and performance-analysis tools.
• Background in wireless, satellite, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, defense, aerospace, communications, or other mission-critical environments.
