Senior Staff Firmware Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Salary: $132,500–$196,140 per year, plus bonus and equity plan eligibility

What you will do

• Evaluate and define firmware feature requirements for data center interconnectivity products.
• Design, implement, optimize, and reuse embedded firmware features across products.
• Develop device drivers, peripherals, applications, and APIs for high-speed coherent fiber transceivers.
• Test firmware, investigate failures, reproduce issues, and debug problems on real hardware.
• Collaborate with application, project management, DVT, hardware, and architecture teams across sites.
• Review hardware schematics and contribute to feature and performance analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience developing memory-constrained embedded systems.
• 5+ years of firmware development experience with device drivers and peripherals such as I2C, I3C, and SPI.
• Strong programming skills in C and Python, with strong understanding and experience of RTOS.
• Experience with embedded SoC and microcontroller architecture, memory-mapped hardware interfaces, GPIOs, and ISRs.
• Ability to read hardware schematics, use laboratory equipment and JTAG debuggers, and solve hardware-level problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical transceivers, coherent DSP, lasers, optical components, or PID control.
• Experience developing and debugging Linux device drivers, software state machines, context saving, and error handling.
• Knowledge of OIF CMIS, OSFP, SFP, optics, Git, Makefile, GDB, IDEs, or Bash.
• Understanding of signal-processing concepts such as BER, SNR, sampling phase, Shannon limit, impulse and frequency response, and FFT.
