Senior Applications Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Austin, TX; hybrid work

Salary: $124,600–$231,400 USD annual base pay, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and validation of embedded software and reference applications for next-generation silicon platforms.
• Develop system-level solutions, proof-of-concept demonstrations, evaluation platforms, and reference designs for complex customer use cases.
• Debug and identify root causes of complex hardware and software issues across multiple abstraction layers.
• Collaborate with Product, Firmware, Hardware, Systems, and Applications Engineering teams to influence product architecture, roadmaps, and customer adoption.
• Work directly with strategic customers to understand requirements, reproduce issues, provide technical guidance, and accelerate product integration.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and code, maintain technical documentation, and drive adoption of improved architectures and development tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 6–10 years of professional experience.
• Extensive C/C++ embedded software development experience on microcontrollers using bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
• Experience delivering complex embedded systems from architecture through production release.
• Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr, Linux-based systems, and modern embedded software architectures.
• Strong understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, interrupts, timers, system integration, and embedded optimization for performance, power, reliability, and security.
• Experience developing Edge AI or embedded ML applications on resource-constrained devices, plus strong customer-facing and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Embedded security experience with cryptography, secure boot, secure debug, TrustZone, tamper detection, secure storage, or secure provisioning.
• Motor control, embedded vision, image processing, or camera pipeline development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps workflows, hardware-in-the-loop testing, Python automation, silicon bring-up, or hardware validation.
• Knowledge of multicore MCU architectures, concurrency, low-level optimization, and ARM/RISC-V architectures.
• Experience defining software architecture and technical strategy, mentoring engineers, or using AI-assisted development tools.
