Core-Platform Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Site-based hybrid role requiring work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a hirify.global office or work location in Carlsbad, California; Tempe, Arizona; Englewood, Colorado; or Seattle, Washington. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop software as part of an agile engineering team.
• Design and drive software architecture for Linux-based systems and custom support applications.
• Build integrations with REST services, hardware interfaces, ARINC controllers, cellular device controllers, and low-level drivers.
• Develop, test, maintain, and improve software products supporting mobility access servers.
• Maintain CI/CD systems using GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Vault, and GitHub.
• Improve virtual and bare-metal testing, conduct code reviews, and identify issues before production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on embedded software development experience using C, C++, Rust, Go, Bash, or Python.
• Experience with object-oriented development, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to evaluate software architecture, design, and existing codebases.
• Experience performing requirement-based testing and maintaining software quality standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with AlmaLinux, OpenWRT, Yocto, Buildroot, or other embedded-optimized frameworks.
• Understanding of bootloader and application bring-up processes.
• Experience optimizing CPU, memory, and disk resources using tools such as cgroups and MGLRU.
