TL;DR
Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++): Designing and developing on-device software for drones, remote controllers, robotic drone nests, and support equipment with an accent on embedded Linux, RTOS, hardware interfaces, and flight-ready code. Focus on defining software architectures, bringing up and testing new hardware, debugging field issues, and supporting flight control, navigation, autonomy, and perception systems.

Location: Seattle, WA, United States; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

  • Design and develop on-device software for indoor and outdoor drones, remote controllers, robotic drone nests, and support equipment.
  • Own the complete software lifecycle from specification and architecture through implementation, testing, and product support.
  • Write and maintain flight-ready C/C++ code and establish software architectures and implementation methodologies.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, perception, controls, test, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Debug issues in the field, incorporate customer feedback, and support new product deployments.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of industry experience developing software for devices.
  • Professional experience with C, C++, Python, embedded Linux, RTOS, and standard interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
  • Experience developing for SoCs, MCUs, and other compute hardware, including hardware bring-up and testing.
  • Experience with debugging, performance optimization, unit testing, and working in fast-paced technical environments.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • On-site work in Seattle, WA is required.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace, robotics, automotive, consumer electronics, or related industries.
  • Experience with displays, cameras, perception sensors, MIPI, Yocto, and FPGA HDL development using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with flight control, navigation, autonomy, embedded radio, and GNSS-based localization systems.
  • Experience developing UAV/UAS software for commercial, industrial, or defense applications.
