Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I (MedTech)

Location: Primarily onsite in San Diego, California; four days onsite and one day remote. Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM PST.

Salary: $28.50-$32.00 per hour, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Implement environmental, health, and safety programs and policies in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, audits, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control activities.
• Manage Safety Data Sheet records, chemical inventories, hazardous and non-hazardous waste inspections, and waste minimization efforts.
• Conduct safety inspections, ergonomic evaluations, fire drills, and emergency preparedness activities.
• Collect environmental, health, and safety metrics and maintain accurate health, safety, accident, and workers’ compensation records.
• Identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and track CAPAs through completion while collaborating with employees, supervisors, and managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and applicable work experience.
• At least one year of health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Professional safety certification or progress toward certification, such as CIH, CSP, or ASP.
• Strong collaboration, communication, organization, problem-solving, and confidentiality skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Coursework or a degree in safety or industrial hygiene.
• Experience with hazardous waste management and handling.
