EHS Specialist

Location: Maplewood, Minnesota, United States. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexible hours. The role supports laboratory R&D operations and includes physical safety activities.

Salary: $22.00–$28.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Conduct monthly safety surveys, present safety focus topics, track findings, and ensure timely closure.
• Document incidents and injuries, conduct WIMS investigations, identify root causes, and communicate corrective actions to management.
• Manage waste logistics, verify waste stream profiles and inventories, maintain accurate labels, and implement waste storage and handling procedures.
• Support hazardous waste disposal, laboratory cleanouts, hazard reviews, and risk-reduction activities.
• Participate in laboratory safety meetings, provide respirator fit tests, and conduct machine guarding assessments.
• Support laboratory commissioning, equipment startup, pre-startup safety reviews, laboratory moves, and area exits while communicating with customer personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of EHS and/or chemistry experience.
• Ability to identify hazards and risks, assess controls, communicate risk-reduction methods, and track improvement initiatives through completion.
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities, develop corrective plans, gain management support, and prioritize work in changing circumstances.
• Responsibilities may involve access to information and technologies subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, which restrict access for certain non-U.S. persons.
