TL;DR
Administrative Support Specialist (DHCPP) (Federal Public Health Administration): Providing on-site administrative support for CDC's Division of High-Consequence Pathogens & Pathology, including guest researcher assignments, travel, peer review, grants, agreements, purchasing, and program operations with an accent on document accuracy, stakeholder coordination, and federal procedures. Focus on processing administrative packages, resolving operational issues, and preparing technical progress and year-end reports.

Location: On site at CDC Atlanta – Clifton Campus offices in Atlanta, Georgia, United States; occasional travel or in-person stakeholder meetings may be required.

What you will do

  • Provide administrative support for CDC's Division of High-Consequence Pathogens & Pathology program operations.
  • Process and monitor guest researcher, non-FTE, onboarding, visa, and related assignment documentation.
  • Coordinate peer review submissions, international travel procedures, grants, agreements, purchases, and administrative requests.
  • Review packages for completeness, maintain accurate records, troubleshoot issues, and recommend resolutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between program offices, administrative organizations, researchers, government personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly technical progress reports and an annual year-end summary report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant administrative experience may be considered.
  • Professional administrative or program support experience with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, and judgment skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail and ability to review documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and interact effectively with government and program stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting federal government, public health, research, scientific, healthcare, or regulated organizations.
  • Experience with CDC, HHS, federal administrative processes, or government contracting.
  • Experience with guest researcher, fellowship, non-FTE, visa, clearance, onboarding, or international travel documentation.
  • Experience with peer review administration, formal progress reports, grants, agreements, purchasing, or government credit card processes.
