Director, Building Management System Design

Salary: $110,000–$200,000 USD annually, plus potential bonus, equity, and/or commission.

What you will do

• Own the design and technical integrity of BMS, EPMS, and PLC-based SCADA architectures built on Ignition.
• Author and maintain reusable Sequences of Operations and standardized points lists for mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Develop, review, and control P&IDs, equipment tagging, naming conventions, alarms, and historian requirements.
• Define controls for datacenter cooling systems, including chillers, dry coolers, CRAH/CRAC units, CDUs, and liquid-cooling skids.
• Define electrical metering, breaker and switchgear monitoring, power-quality capture, and alarm hierarchies.
• Manage technical interfaces with vendors, OEMs, system integrators, and commissioning teams through design reviews, testing, and commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls/Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in industrial controls, building automation, or SCADA engineering, preferably in datacenter or other mission-critical environments.
• Experience authoring Sequences of Operation and points lists and developing reusable control standards or libraries.
• Deep knowledge of PLC-based SCADA architecture, I/O design, program structure, and redundancy.
• Experience developing P&IDs and using Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet/IP, IEC 61850, and SNMP.
• Strong understanding of datacenter cooling and electrical power monitoring across switchgear, UPS, PDU, and generator systems.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license, such as P.Eng or PE.
• Experience developing controls standards or sequence libraries for multi-site or hyperscale programs.
