TL;DR
Technical Writer III - Product Docs (Cybersecurity) (Product Documentation/AI): Creating customer-focused product documentation, release notes, and API docs for a cybersecurity platform with an accent on user-centered writing, structured authoring, and cross-functional product research. Focus on integrating AI into authoring workflows, building reusable information architecture, and explaining complex distributed security products clearly.

Location: Remote in Ontario, Canada; hybrid attendance required 2–3 days per week at the Toronto office once the development center is established. This is Canadian-based employment, and employees must maintain legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Salary: $100,000–$165,000 CAD per year, plus variable or incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Create customer-focused documentation for new features, release notes, APIs, and related product capabilities.
  • Research complex products, use the product, and collaborate with subject-matter experts to build deep product knowledge.
  • Partner with product designers, developers, product managers, writers, and content strategists.
  • Apply writing standards, structured authoring practices, reusable information architecture, and collaborative content reviews.
  • Advise other writers, manage projects independently, and contribute to the team’s strategy and vision.
  • Integrate AI into documentation workflows to improve quality, efficiency, and customer and writer experiences.

Requirements

  • Portfolio demonstrating clear technical communication in a modern, conversational, and professional voice.
  • Strong audience analysis, communication, problem-solving, information hierarchy, and user-experience skills.
  • Experience addressing customer problems through documentation and working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
  • Experience or understanding of DITA/XML, structured authoring, topic-based authoring, and reusable information architecture.
  • Experience with a technical authoring tool, preferably OxygenXML Editor, and with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or similar repository technologies.
  • Must have legal entitlement to work in Canada; selected applicants are subject to background checks.

Nice to have

  • Experience creating or using AI agents and prompts.
  • Cybersecurity industry writing experience.
  • Experience with a Component Content Management System.
  • Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
