R&D Engineer Software 3 (Mainframe)

Location: Onsite in the Plano, Texas office, United States

Annual base salary: USD 91,100–146,000, plus discretionary bonus and equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Analyze business requirements and write high-quality, testable code within an Agile team.
• Build, test, maintain, and support mainframe database solutions.
• Participate in system design, code reviews, iteration planning, refinement, and sprint reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Improve development efficiency, security, and product quality through engineering best practices.
• Support customer issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience with Agile software development and source code control tools such as Endevor and GitHub.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of z/OS, Unix/USS, SMP/E, z/OSMF, Endevor, system dumps, and TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with one or more of IBM Assembler, Metal C, COBOL, ISPF, REXX, or JCL.
• Familiarity with test automation, Jenkins, Python, CI/CD automation, RESTful APIs, relational databases, QA, DevOps, and cybersecurity concepts.

Nice to have

• Expertise in Java or C/C++.
• Experience with Jira, Rally, Black Duck, Coverity, or zACS.
• Experience with cyber security and compliance topics.
