Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid role requiring work at the customer site in Hanover, Maryland 1–2 days per week and at the Columbia, Maryland office 1 day per week.

Salary: $115,198–$155,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex Java-based software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Design and develop enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions for client needs.
• Test, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues while managing multiple deadlines.
• Work within an agile software development lifecycle and a fast-paced small-business environment.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries, plus a related bachelor's degree; equivalent master's or high-school-based experience paths are accepted.
• Experience with enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, object-oriented programming, and agile software development.
• Experience with Git, Nexus, Maven, configuration management, and Linux command-line environments.
• Current U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to work at the specified Hanover and Columbia locations according to the hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with NiFi, Kafka, AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, or other cloud technologies such as Azure.
• Experience with SQL, distributed, or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Scripting experience and familiarity with big data platforms.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, YouTrack, GitHub, or similar development tool suites.
