EHS Engineer (Manufacturing)

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Serve as the primary EHS resource for Factory 4 and factory development teams from facility buildout through process scale-up.
• Develop engineering controls, administrative procedures, PPE programs, safety procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments for welding, additive manufacturing, casting, forging, and fabrication processes.
• Partner with engineers and technicians to integrate safety by design into process development, equipment commissioning, and factory operations.
• Lead or support incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and hazard assessments including Haz-ops, JHAs, and RAs.
• Deliver process-specific safety training and provide field-driven feedback to improve EHS program usability.
• Support OSHA and local regulatory compliance, inspections, and agency interactions.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, California, and local regulatory requirements.
• Technical knowledge of hazards related to MIG, TIG, and laser welding, metal additive manufacturing, casting, forging, and fabrication.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to assess risk and create practical controls in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.

Nice to have

• CSP, CIH, or equivalent professional certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with automation, robotics, machining, laser safety programs, metal powder handling, inert atmosphere systems, or additive manufacturing post-processing.
• Experience improving EHS systems in a startup or scaling environment.
