Line Mechanic-C-A

Location: Abilene, Texas; must live within 30 minutes of the service location

What you will do

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove, and inspect overhead and underground conductors, cables, transformers, structures, fixtures, and related equipment.
• Work on energized conductors and equipment up to 600 volts as qualifications are completed and supervision requirements permit.
• Test, de-energize, ground, splice, terminate, troubleshoot, repair, and energize URD cables and equipment.
• Build equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations, and perform circuit tagging, switching, and sectionalizing.
• Inspect and troubleshoot lines, direct assigned assisting employees, and complete monthly apprentice cards.
• Drive and operate line trucks and auxiliary equipment; respond to overtime, on-call, and potential out-of-town travel requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of distribution electrical power line work experience, or qualifying line-school education and internship experience.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Previous Line Mechanic D qualifications or equivalent experience are required.
• Must pass a physical abilities assessment and qualify through demonstration, examination, or performance appraisal.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the service location.
