Optical Associate, Non-Certified – Sam’s Club (Optical)

Hourly wage: $18.00–$26.00 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Stock, organize, sign, price, and maintain merchandise displays in the Optical area.
• Assist members with eyewear and contact lens purchases, orders, measurements, adjustments, repairs, and product education.
• Measure pupillary distance and position of wear for different lens types and complete final eyewear inspections, including compound prism verification.
• Schedule and confirm appointments, support optometrist services, perform pre-testing under guidance, and record results.
• Process POS transactions, payments, refunds, insurance claims, chargebacks, and optical orders.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant records, optical equipment, trial lens inventory, documentation, and communications with laboratories and optometrists.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon entry or within 12 months of hire.
• Meet applicable age, registration, certification, and licensure requirements for optical associates under state law.
• Obtain American Board of Opticianry certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Be willing and able to register and maintain an NPI number when required by state law.
• In licensed or registered states, complete applicable apprenticeship and optician licensure requirements within the specified statutory deadlines.
• Develop intermediate knowledge of eye anatomy and diagnostic testing and complete required training.
