Optical Associate, Non-Certified – Sam’s Club (Optical)

Location: Onsite at 2605 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402, United States

Salary: $17.50–$25.50 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Stock, organize, clean, sign, and maintain merchandise displays in the Optical area.
• Assist members with eyewear and contact lens purchases, prescription verification, orders, payments, returns, and refunds.
• Measure pupillary distance and position of wear, adjust and repair frames, and complete final inspections of eyewear.
• Educate members on eyewear care and contact lens hygiene, including insertion and removal support.
• Perform pre-testing and record results under the guidance of an optometrist; schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Maintain optical equipment, inventory, records, insurance claims, and HIPAA-compliant documentation while coordinating with laboratories and optometrists.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon entry or within 12 months of hire.
• Meet applicable requirements to work as an Optical associate, including age, registration, certification, and licensure requirements.
• Obtain American Board of Opticianry certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Be willing and able to register and maintain an NPI number when required by state law.
• In licensed or registered states, complete apprenticeship and state optician licensure requirements within the specified timeframes.
