Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Rochester, New York, with full-time presence required. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Base compensation: $80,700–$109,400 per year, plus potential incentive pay based on company, role, and individual performance.

What you will do

• Develop engineering solutions to improve manufacturing safety, uptime, and quality.
• Analyze process, reject, defect, and manufacturing data to identify conditions and improvement opportunities.
• Identify issues early, lead problem-solving activities, and track corrective actions through resolution.
• Perform statistical analysis and verify compliance with product quality requirements and procedures.
• Support change management to prevent adverse effects on product quality.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, process, product, mechanical, controls engineering, and internal and external customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Ability to understand and assess complex engineering issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work onsite in Rochester, New York on a full-time basis.
• Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship or work authorization support now or in the future.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across functions, and occasionally work extended or non-core hours.

Nice to have

• Manufacturing quality knowledge, including product and process specification conformance, PPAP, SPC, containment, and customer satisfaction metrics.
• Lean Six Sigma or problem-solving certification and knowledge of Six Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, or PDCA methodologies.
• Knowledge of ISO/IATF quality requirements, SQL/databases, Minitab or other statistical software, and QDAS.
• Two or more years of manufacturing experience and the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Entry-level proficiency with 3D CAD environments such as SolidWorks.
