TL;DR
Manager, Supplier Quality - Drive/Energy (Automotive): Leading supplier quality planning, PPAP execution, audits, and manufacturing readiness for electric and range-extender vehicle powertrains with an accent on supplier industrialization, quality systems, and cross-functional execution. Focus on building a high-performing Supplier Quality team, improving supplier cost, quality, and manufacturability, and driving robust production processes through launch.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; onsite 4–5 days per week. Requires 50–80% travel, including international travel with a passport.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead supplier quality planning and execution from advanced development through serial production.
  • Oversee supplier quality performance, functional standards, PPAPs, audits, corrective actions, and launch readiness.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to define specifications, supplier metrics, and timely issue resolutions.
  • Drive supplier improvements in cost, quality, manufacturability, and production process robustness using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Monitor supplier manufacturing process development, new product launches, and design changes.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Supplier Quality team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 7 years of experience in automotive engineering or product quality, including 3 years in a leadership role within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
  • Knowledge of vehicle development, vehicle production, supply chain management, Supplier Quality Management, and vehicle assembly functionality.
  • Experience with PPAP/APQP, GD&T, inspection, SPC, data analysis, safety requirements, and quality systems.
  • Understanding of IATF, VDA, ISO, DIN, and regulatory requirements, plus strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Leadership, team management, project management, financial acumen, assertiveness, and result-oriented decision-making abilities.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience with quality systems and in-depth knowledge of PPAP/APQP, GD&T, and inspection.
