TL;DR
Sustainment Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting the sustainment, fielding, maintenance, modernization, and aftermarket support of turreted weapon systems with an accent on configuration management, technical publications, field retrofits, and product integrity. Focus on developing maintenance procedures, coordinating depot and supplier activities, leading root-cause and failure analysis, and establishing requirements for upgrades and overhaul.

Location: Onsite in Santa Barbara, CA; the role is also described as being based in Goleta, CA.

Salary: $140,000–$165,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Develop operation, test, maintenance, retrofit, and technical manual procedures for turreted weapon systems supporting US Military personnel.
  • Review maintainability analyses, technical publications, engineering documentation, and proposed engineering changes.
  • Lead configuration management planning, establish baselines, define engineering-change scope, and validate change effectiveness.
  • Support field retrofits, depot reset and overhaul activities, LRU replacement, repair procedures, functional testing, and OEM-standard restoration.
  • Identify quality, cost, delivery, spares-management, and production assembly or test improvements.
  • Coordinate with US Military depots, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, design engineering, business development, and sustainment teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least five years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience sustaining, fielding, maintaining, or modernizing complex military or aerospace systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, schematics, specifications, interface control documents, and military standards.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic or mechanical actuation products, electronics assembly and testing, and collaboration with technicians.
  • Experience coordinating with customers or suppliers on complex projects, plus root-cause analysis, failure analysis, repair-process improvement, and planning.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Secret Clearance; access to US export-controlled information is required.
