TL;DR
Mission Assurance Engineer (Aerospace): Ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of space-based systems across design, production, testing, and final delivery with an accent on parts control, configuration management, traceability, and verification. Focus on analyzing mission-critical components, approving engineering changes, improving build and test procedures, and maintaining compliance with space systems engineering standards.

Location: On-site full-time in Washington, DC, United States. Travel requirements are up to 25%; working hours are first shift.

Salary: $122,800–$162,800 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform parts control analysis and procurement reviews for mission-critical components.
  • Verify that purchased products meet specifications and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and analyze configuration, traceability, and related engineering data.
  • Review and approve Change Control Notices and Engineering Review Notices.
  • Support product and test verification across engineering disciplines.
  • Evaluate and improve procedures for space hardware build and test environments while coordinating with engineering, quality, and systems teams.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 10 or more years of mission assurance experience, including space-related systems.
  • Hands-on quality assurance experience in the production and testing of space-based hardware.
  • Experience managing and analyzing configuration and traceability documentation.
  • Knowledge of space systems engineering standards and practices, plus experience designing and testing aerospace software tools.

Nice to have

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in space-based systems engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycles for orbital and launch systems.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering methodologies.
