Lead Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Remote - Nationwide, United States; primary location Greenwood Village, Colorado. Reliable high-speed wired internet and a suitable home workspace are required.

Base salary: $114,000–$165,300 per year, with eligibility for a bonus program.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of Spring and Spring Boot microservices-based architectures.
• Architect and build real-time streaming applications with Apache Kafka.
• Define technical strategy and oversee the software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment.
• Mentor engineers and conduct design and code reviews.
• Champion TDD and BDD practices and drive improvements in system design, testing, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Optimize application performance, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure high availability, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Visa sponsorship, including CPT/OPT sponsorship, is not available.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in a lead or mentorship role.
• Strong expertise in Java 11 or later, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful web services, and microservices architecture.
• Experience building real-time streaming applications with Apache Kafka and working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Hibernate, JPA, ORM concepts, software design patterns, Git, CI/CD, TDD, and BDD.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus strong problem-solving and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of gRPC and AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
