Backend Software Engineering Intern 2027

Location: On-site at hirify.global HQ in San Mateo, California, United States. Must be able to work at the headquarters during winter or summer 2027.

Estimated hourly pay: $55–$65 USD per hour, plus a monthly housing stipend.

hirify.global develops an integrated, privacy-sensitive, AI-powered physical security platform covering video security, access control, sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

What you will do

• Build scalable distributed systems handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices worldwide.
• Design and improve low-latency, high-throughput, high-reliability microservice architectures.
• Develop APIs and backend features in Python and/or Go, including services for remote product configuration.
• Work with Redis, DynamoDB, Postgres, Kafka, and SQS for storage, logging, and message passing.
• Deploy services using Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Design features incorporating computer vision and collaborate cross-functionally in an agile environment.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, with graduation by June 2028.
• Prior internship experience developing and launching products.
• Familiarity with Python or Go, distributed systems, operating systems, AWS, and Docker.
• Comfort working in an agile software development environment.
• Ability to work on-site at hirify.global HQ in San Mateo during winter or summer 2027.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with REST APIs and Linux servers.
