TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Lean Manufacturing): Leading the development, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance with an accent on team leadership, continuous improvement, and new product introduction. Focus on implementing Lean Six Sigma methods, resolving process and quality issues through root cause analysis, supporting capital projects and automation, and using KPIs and statistical methods to improve process capability.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina; onsite five days per week

Annual base salary: $108,236.66–$151,479.99, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and develop process engineers and technical specialists.
  • Drive manufacturing process improvements focused on safety, quality, productivity, throughput, delivery, and cost reduction.
  • Develop standardized work, process controls, and best practices using DFM/DFA, FMEA, 3P, 7-Ways, Lean, and Six Sigma methods.
  • Partner with production, quality, maintenance, EHS, supply chain, product engineering, and leadership teams to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, facility changes, process technology implementation, new product introductions, validations, and production readiness.
  • Use root cause analysis, corrective actions, KPIs, data, and statistical methods to improve process capability and report results to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or operations improvement.
  • 2+ years of people leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process optimization, Lean principles, continuous improvement, analytical problem-solving, and project management.
  • Experience with Visual Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, cycle time reduction, process balancing, Yokoten, 5S, SMED, and Kanban.
  • Proficiency with ERP, MES, data analysis, Microsoft Office, and cross-functional communication.

Nice to have

  • PLC programming and automation knowledge.
  • Experience with 2D/3D modeling software such as AutoCAD or Pro-E.
