Software Development Engineer, AI Assistant Team (AI)

Location: New York, United States; flexible hybrid schedule. Candidates must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Build and operate production-ready services, APIs, and integration layers connecting AI Assistants with travel content, availability, booking, and payment capabilities.
• Write precise specifications and review AI-generated specifications, code, and tests for correctness, security, performance, and architectural alignment.
• Decompose work into small, traceable units and deliver through automated compliance controls, policy-as-code guardrails, and continuous validation.
• Collaborate with architects on system design and technical direction, and with product and design on travel experience requirements.
• Integrate with hirify.global platform teams across distribution, hospitality, and payments, turning proven solutions into reusable capabilities.
• Instrument systems for observability and continuously improve the team’s AI-assisted engineering practices and patterns.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in system design, API development, and production operations.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional backend language, such as Java, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience building and operating APIs and microservices at scale, with knowledge of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with AI code assistants, agentic coding tools, or spec-driven workflows, plus strong code review and software quality practices.
• Experience with AI Assistant integration patterns such as plugins, skills, function calling, MCP, or conversational APIs.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM application patterns such as RAG, orchestration, and function calling.
• Background in travel, marketplace, or multi-sided platform domains.
• Experience with policy-as-code, automated compliance, DevSecOps, innovation labs, or product incubation environments.
