Software Development Engineer, AI Assistant Team

Location: New York, United States. Flexible hybrid schedule. Candidates must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Build and operate production-ready services, APIs, and integration layers connecting AI Assistants to travel content, availability, booking, and payment capabilities.
• Write precise specifications and review AI-generated specifications, code, and tests for correctness, security, performance, and architectural alignment.
• Collaborate with architects on system design and technical direction, and with product and design on travel experience requirements.
• Instrument systems for observability, telemetry, and continuous validation within automated delivery and compliance pipelines.
• Integrate hirify.global platform capabilities across Universal Distribution, Hospitality, and Payments, turning proven solutions into reusable capabilities.
• Improve the practices, prompts, and patterns used to produce reliable output from AI coding tools.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with strong system design, API development, and production operations fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional backend language such as Java, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience building and operating production APIs and microservices at scale.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, containerization, cloud-native architectures, observability, and automated compliance or DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with AI-augmented development tools, spec-driven workflows, and reviewing AI-generated code and tests.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI Assistant integrations such as plugins, skills, function calling, MCP, or conversational APIs.
• Familiarity with LLM application patterns including RAG and orchestration.
• Background in travel, marketplace, or multi-sided platform domains.
• Experience in innovation labs, incubation environments, or end-to-end product delivery teams.
