TL;DR
Avionics Manufacturing Technician II - A Shift (Aerospace): Building and testing electrical assemblies and components for the Rutherford rocket engine with an accent on PCB assembly, soldering, wire harnessing, and functional testing. Focus on operating specialized test equipment and thermal chambers, identifying abnormalities, and improving manufacturing processes while meeting aerospace workmanship standards.

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. A Shift schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts may be required.

Hourly pay range: $25–$35 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Build and test electrical assemblies and components for the Rutherford rocket engine’s electric propellant pump system.
  • Perform soldering, wire harnessing, PCB assembly, and functional testing.
  • Operate thermal chambers, test equipment, and software-driven tests.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, drawings, and work instructions while identifying abnormalities.
  • Contribute to 5S activities, special projects, scheduled jobs, and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Communicate concerns and recommendations to the Leading Hand.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience with electrical assemblies and components.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, and/or harnessing small electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to use common hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, spanners, and soldering irons.
  • Ability to work onsite in Long Beach, California, and meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the full shift, work in tight or elevated spaces, perform repetitive motions, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Experience inspecting PCB and wiring assemblies against customer workmanship standards.
  • Experience using wire strippers, torque drivers, milliohmmeters, multimeters, and DC power supplies.
  • Knowledge of ESD policies and IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-610, or IPC-620 standards.
  • Experience testing components and subassemblies and assembling products from manufacturing instructions and drawings.
