Journeyman Lineman (Electric Utility)

Location: Field-based work across the U.S.; primarily out-of-town during the workweek with weekly overnight travel. Routine and extended travel, including storm recovery, is required.

What you will do

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, transfer, and remove overhead and underground distribution power lines and equipment.
• Perform energized and de-energized line work, follow switching orders, and apply OSHA and company safety procedures.
• Operate bucket, digger, pickup, excavating, hydro-excavating, stringing, tensioning, and other specialized equipment.
• Inspect equipment and safety tools, maintain records, and initiate required repairs or testing.
• Organize crew members, tools, materials, permits, paperwork, and safety equipment for assigned work.
• Train groundmen, equipment operators, and apprentices and assume Foreman responsibilities when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least four years of experience working on or around energized high-voltage primary electric lines.
• Valid CDL-A license with a clear driving record.
• Ability to read technical information, manuals, work orders, blueprints, system maps, and diagrams.
• Ability to understand and use English orally and in writing.
• Ability to climb structures, perform strenuous outdoor field work, lift up to 50 pounds, complete Pole Top Rescue, and work extended hours and weekends with little-notice travel.

Nice to have

• Completed lineman apprenticeship or technical training.
• Experience with overhead and underground distribution systems, transformer banks, and specialized utility equipment.
