TL;DR
Fleet Software Engineer (Robotics) (C++/Python): Owning the software path from development to a fleet of autonomous electric aircraft, including testing infrastructure, release tooling, and core aircraft software systems with an accent on flight-log debugging, safety assessment, and staged fleet rollouts. Focus on reproducing and diagnosing field issues, building hardware-in-the-loop and simulation-based regression tests, and improving observability across autonomy, controls, avionics, and ground systems.

Location: Alameda HQ; on-site. Occasional travel to California test sites is required.

Salary: $144,000–$205,000 per year plus equity.

Company

hirify.global develops and manufactures autonomous electric aircraft, flight-control software, avionics, propulsion systems, batteries, and carbon-fiber airframes for cargo transport and crop protection.

What you will do

  • Own the aircraft software release process end to end, including release readiness, versioning, artifact distribution, release notes, and staged fleet rollouts.
  • Run and improve the six-week release cadence across a growing fleet.
  • Triage flight-operation, field-testing, and customer-deployment issues across autonomy, controls, avionics interfaces, and ground systems.
  • Reproduce issues from flight logs, identify root causes, fix problems, or provide subsystem owners with diagnosed issues and test cases.
  • Build automated testing infrastructure, including hardware-in-the-loop tests, simulation-based regression suites, and log replay against real flight data.
  • Maintain aircraft software subsystems such as logging and telemetry, configuration management, health monitoring, and over-the-air software distribution.

Requirements

  • Professional C++ experience: 2+ years for Engineer II or 5+ years for Senior Engineer; C++11 or newer is preferred.
  • Professional Python experience and the ability to write production-quality code with testing and validation.
  • Experience debugging difficult problems in systems that were not personally developed, often with incomplete data.
  • Experience with testing infrastructure, CI/CD, release engineering, or build and distribution systems for software deployed to physical devices.
  • Comfort working across the stack, from low-level systems to user-facing tools, with working knowledge of trigonometry and linear algebra.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to California test sites and work on-site at the Alameda HQ.

Nice to have

  • Interest in or experience with real-world robotic systems, especially software interacting with hardware.

Culture & Benefits

  • Employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • FSA with employer matching and a 401(k).
  • Paid holidays, generous PTO, and additional unpaid time off.
  • Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance options.
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits, free catered lunch, and snacks.
  • Employment is subject to continued government authorization for access to export-controlled technology and information.
