Senior Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 base salary per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Implement core functionality for the motion planning service.
• Identify, scope, and drive high-impact technical projects in robotic manipulation.
• Collaborate with engineers, organizational leaders, and users to advance robotic arm control systems.
• Advise leadership on technical decisions and robotics strategy.
• Mentor engineers on software engineering practices and motion planning concepts.

Requirements

• Required experience writing motion planning algorithms.
• Strong backend software engineering experience and the ability to drive projects through completion.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally including 3+ years with robotic systems and complex software environments; a relevant PhD with research projects may substitute for formal experience.
• Experience with Node, Python, or C++, with a focus on backend services.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex robotics concepts to diverse audiences.
• Availability for hybrid work in New York City, San Francisco, or Seattle.

Nice to have

• Robotic arm experience or motion planning experience in autonomous vehicles or related domains.
• Algorithm-focused experience.
• ROS2 and MoveIt2 experience.
• Frontend familiarity in a full-stack environment.
