Staff Engineer, Autonomy Software Integration (R4483)

Location: San Diego, California or San Mateo, California, with a hybrid or remote workplace in the United States

Salary: $152,480–$228,720 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Integrate, configure, and validate autonomy capabilities across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and flight environments.
• Develop expertise in the Hivemind SDK and evaluate customer use cases, developer experience, feature completeness, and edge cases.
• Bring autonomy software onto prototype and production robotic hardware by configuring sensor drivers, communication interfaces, and platform adapters.
• Architect integration frameworks, deployment scripts, configuration-management tools, and debugging tools.
• Analyze logs, telemetry, and rosbag data to diagnose defects and isolate failures across subsystem boundaries.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and define release-readiness criteria.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience with a master's degree or PhD.
• Proficiency in Python or C++ and experience with autonomous systems, server applications, or middleware.
• Experience designing integration workflows, communicating system dependencies, and triaging integration defects.
• Experience with simulation tools, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with software architecture, hardware or embedded systems, ROS, networking, operating systems, or radio communications.
• Expert Python knowledge and experience with white-box testing.
• Experience building automated testing tools for GUI and server applications.
