Robotics Software Engineer (C++ & Python)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits

hirify.global Robotics develops autonomous retail robots and multimodal data collection systems that help retailers optimize operations, improve shelf execution, and make data-driven decisions.

What you will do

• Maintain and extend the software stack for Tally autonomous robots.
• Develop reusable software packages for hirify.global engineering teams.
• Improve autonomy, navigation, perception, and human-robot interaction behaviors.
• Support DevOps, CI/CD, automated regression testing, and infrastructure management.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party software packages, including ROS components.
• Package and deploy software in production environments.

Requirements

• Approximately 2 years of industry experience.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills, including shell scripting with Bash and Python.
• Experience writing ROS nodes and understanding ROS concepts such as nodes, messages, topics, services, parameters, and build systems.
• Proficiency with Git, Ubuntu or other Debian-based Linux distributions, and modern software development methodologies.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment, automated regression testing, and production software deployment.
• A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field is recommended but not required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of both ROS1 and ROS2.
• Experience with Redis or other databases, Docker, Nvidia Jetson, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience managing large numbers of connected IoT devices, including robots, wearables, phones, or smart home devices.
