Senior Robotics Software Engineer (C++ & Python) (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States; Workplace: Hybrid

Salary: $150,000–$230,000 per year, plus potential equity, incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Maintain, extend, and evolve the software stack powering Tally autonomous robots.
• Develop reusable software packages for hirify.global engineering teams.
• Improve robot autonomy, navigation, perception, and human-robot interaction behaviors.
• Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, automated regression testing, and infrastructure management.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party software packages, including ROS components.
• Package and deploy robotics software in production environments.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of industry experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, including shell scripting with Bash and Python.
• Understanding of ROS concepts such as nodes, messages, topics, services, parameters, and build systems; ROS1 and ROS2 experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience writing ROS nodes and working with Git.
• Experience with Ubuntu or other Debian-based Linux distributions.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment, Scrum, automated regression testing, and production software packaging.

Nice to have

• Experience with databases, especially Redis.
• Familiarity with Docker containers and the Nvidia Jetson platform.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Experience managing large numbers of connected IoT devices such as robots, wearables, phones, or smart home devices.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
