Senior Electronics Engineer (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Monitor, triage, prioritize, and root-cause electrical, control-system, and drive-electronics issues on operational trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Design, prototype, build, and test electronics fixes from schematic capture and PCB layout through board- and system-level validation.
• Lead reliability workstreams for fleet-wide control-hardware consolidation, drive-electronics standardization, and remote telemetry for laser and system health.
• Coordinate with Operations and Science to schedule, deploy, and retrofit upgrades on live systems.
• Document validated fixes in engineering documentation, build manifests, and the Engineering Change Request process.

Requirements

• Strong practical experience with analogue and mixed-signal electronics, including op-amp circuits, low-noise amplifiers, filters, ADC/DAC modules, grounding, shielding, and digital interfaces.
• Strong experience with the Altium PCB toolset, schematic and PCB design control, technical documentation, design reviews, ERC/DRC, releases, and change control.
• Ability to diagnose power supplies, analogue circuits, and control electronics and develop reliable PCBs, adapters, connectors, breakout cables, and harnesses.
• Experience translating system-level reliability problems into engineering solutions and deploying them safely on operational hardware under time pressure.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and trade-offs across Operations, Science, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
• Access to export-controlled technology may require verification of U.S. Person status, an export license, or an applicable license exception.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with LVDS and FPGA-based control electronics.
• Experience with cryogenic or RF/microwave systems.
• Python-based test automation or telemetry experience.
