Electronics Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Haywards Heath, England, United Kingdom. Workplace: On-site. Candidates must have British citizenship or valid permission to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Own the hardware system design and realisation of complex large-scale electronics control systems.
• Design, build, test, and verify electronics products using analog and digital circuit design, CAD tools, and laboratory test equipment.
• Develop PCB schematics and layouts, document circuits and verification tests, and debug electronics systems.
• Build control systems for quantum computers and develop an understanding of the firmware and software that controls them.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists on multidisciplinary projects.
• Support project planning, risk management, scheduling, progress reporting, and rapid proof-of-concept development.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in high-performance electronics design across digital, analog, and embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of electronics circuit theory, electromagnetic field theory, noise analysis, and physical devices.
• PCB design experience with ECAD tools such as Altium, plus manufacturing process knowledge.
• Experience using spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, VNAs, and other electronics test equipment for verification and debugging.
• Experience with FPGAs, embedded software engineering for real-time systems, digital system integration using HDL, and wire harness design.
• At least a 2:1 BEng/BSc degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, and British citizenship or valid UK work permission.

Nice to have

• Background in RF engineering, research, metrology, or instrumentation.
• Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital design, and EMC.
• Experience with C, Python, Matlab, or LabVIEW.
• Team or project management experience and a pragmatic approach to design decisions.
